To see Unisex Salon live is to tap into the throbbing vein of New York Now: brand-new-you're-retro, dressing and undressing, dancing 'til you bleed (or until it's time to go to work). Bombastic girl-boy vocals, paranoid lyrics and contagious synth hooks are complemented by a groove-punk rhythm section and shimmering, sexy guitars. Drawing comparisons to bands like Scissor Sisters, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and No Doubt, Unisex Salon is fast, cheap, and out-of-control.
